That’s the only conclusion I can draw as I read through A Tour of C++: which is really is a great way to teach yourself how deficient your coding style is.

It’s pretty plain that C++11 takes the language forward in a big way, while retaining the C substratum that allows journeymen like men to hobble on… but at least the book helps me catch up.
