Bit of a filler post, but here are the things that are likely to land this website on the first page of a Google search.

The first numerical column is the number of times the site has appeared in a Google search for the term, the second numerical column the average placing of the page in the search (both are for the last month).

Unfortunately only the top 4 search terms (update: by which I mean the four at the bottom of this table) generate more than 10 click throughs. I don’t know what a “cartesian tyranny” is, but plainly I have also come close to cornering the market in that term also.

The Gwyneth Paltrow thing is a bit of a result, though seems to be very few people searching for her or clicking on her name. Come on Gwyn, give me some Google love…

  1. Did you perchance confuse the position column with the click-through column in the Google Webmaster report? Your second column seems to be position (in which case you might want to reverse the sort order — smaller is better for the ego), but in the body you say that only the top four entries generated 10+ clicks (which, if true, would be a bit coincidental).

If it’s any consolation, I’ve only had one post that generated 10+ clicks (a whopping 12); for reasons unknown to me, my average position for “sexy natg” is 5.9 (considerably better than for most relevant queries); and Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t know I exist, either.

  2. By “top 4” I guess I mean bottom 4 here – just a product of the way I was looking at the webmaster page on Google – I wasn’t planning on posting anything but then the notion took me, so it wasn’t planned.

Maybe *you* are the original sexy natg? Could be!

    Happy new year.
